01What this policy covers

This policy explains what happens to money you have already paid Shasam Technologies if an engagement is cancelled, paused, or never starts.

It is worth being precise about what it is not, because that shapes everything below:

  • This website sells nothing. There is no checkout, no cart and no subscription on it, and it publishes no prices. Nothing you do on this site charges you.
  • There are no physical goods,so there is nothing to return in the ordinary sense. "Returns" here means the return of money, and the handover of work already produced.
  • Your signed contract prevails. Where a statement of work or services agreement says something different from this page, that contract governs. This page describes our standard position and what you can expect if your contract is silent.

02How we charge, because it determines what is refundable

We do not take an open-ended retainer and bill against it. Work is sold in discrete stages, each with a fixed price agreed before it starts, as set out in our approach:

  • Conversation. Free. Nothing is charged and nothing is owed.
  • Discovery. A fixed price, paid before it begins. It produces a written scope, a data model, screen flows and a fixed price for the build, and those documents are yours whether or not you continue with us.
  • Build stages. Fixed scope and fixed price per stage, invoiced per the schedule in your contract. You are never asked to pre-pay for a stage that has not been defined.
  • Hosting, support and maintenance. A recurring monthly arrangement, billed in advance for the month ahead.

Because each stage is small and separately priced, the amount ever at risk is limited to the stage in progress. That is deliberate, and it is the reason we can be straightforward about the rest of this document.

03Cancelling an engagement

You may cancel at any time, in writing, by emailing contact@shasamtechnologies.com. You do not need to give a reason. What happens to money already paid depends on where the work has reached:

  • Before work on a paid stage has started - a full refund of that stage.
  • During a paid stage - we refund the unworked balance. We charge for the work actually done up to the date you cancel, calculated against the agreed stage price, and return the rest. You receive everything produced up to that point: designs, documents, and the code in your repository.
  • After a stage is delivered and accepted - that stage is not refundable, because the work exists and is yours. Any stage you have paid for but which has not yet begun is refunded in full.
  • Hosting, support and maintenance- cancel any time with 30 days' notice. We do not refund part-months, and we do not bill you for the months after notice expires. Your data and accounts are handed over, not held.

If we cancel - because we conclude we are not the right team, or cannot deliver what was agreed - you get a full refund of every stage that has not been delivered, and you keep everything produced up to that point.

04What is not refundable, stated plainly

  • Work already delivered and accepted. Once a stage is signed off, the output is yours and the fee for it is earned.
  • Discovery, once it has been carried out. Its entire purpose is to produce a scope and a price you can take anywhere, including to another supplier. It is refundable before it begins, not after it has been done.
  • Third-party costs we have already paid on your behalf - domain registration, certificates, licences, app-store fees, cloud usage already consumed. These are passed through at cost, and we will show you the invoice. Where the third party refunds us, we pass that on.
  • Time lost to a delay on your side. If a stage stalls because we are waiting on access, content or a decision, we do not invoice for the waiting. But work already done before the stall remains chargeable.

05How to ask for a refund

Email contact@shasamtechnologies.com with your project name and what you are asking for. There is no form to complete.

  • We acknowledge within 48 hours.
  • We respond substantively within 15 days, with a calculation showing what was worked, what is being returned, and why.
  • Approved refunds are paid within 10 working days of agreeing the amount.
  • Refunds go back the way they came - to the account or card that paid, in the currency paid. We do not issue credit notes instead of money unless you ask us to.

Bank and gateway charges on the original payment are not always recoverable by us. Where they are not, they are deducted from the refund and itemised, never absorbed silently.

06If you disagree with the outcome

Tell us first. Most disputes about a refund are disputes about what was agreed, and are settled by reading the statement of work together.

If that does not resolve it, escalate to our Grievance Officer using the details in the next section. Nothing in this policy limits any right you have under Indian consumer law, including the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, or removes your ability to pursue a remedy through the courts named in our Terms of Use.

07Grievances and how to reach a person

If anything in this document, or anything we have done with your information, is not right, raise it with our Grievance Officer. You do not need to use any particular form of words.

We acknowledge grievances within 48 hours and aim to resolve them within 15 days, in line with the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021.

If you are not satisfied with our response on a personal-data matter, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. Approaching us first is not a precondition, but it is usually faster.
